                       Care for your new board

Caring for your boards is easy if you follow some simple steps.

                                              Cleaning

Cleaning your new board only requires wiping of excess debris with a clean cloth if you are using it for breads. If you are using it for fruits, veggies, cheese or meats you should lightly scrub with warm soapy water, rinse thoroughly and wipe dry with a clean cloth.

If you need to sanitize your board you can use white distilled vinegar or lemon juice to kill any bacteria before washing in warm soapy water.

                                    Regular Maintanance

For regular maintanance your board should be resealed. There are a couple of options. First you can use cutting board oil or pure food grade mineral oil this is the easiest but will need to be done most often, once a week or after heavy use. Apply liberally let set 20 minutes and wipe off excess.

Second and our favorite is a nice bees wax paste. Apply a thin layer of paste in a swirling motion using your fingers so that the wood absorbs the oils, then let dry. This may take a bit. I leave the board on a cookie rack overnight. Then with a clean dry cloth buff with the grain to remove any excess wax. this leaves a nice satin finish that will repel water and make cleaning much easier. When the board stops repeling water reapply.

                            Do's & Dont's
-Do's

- Do follow the above cleaning, sanitizing and resealing instructions

- Do enjoy your board for generations

-Dont's

- Dont ever soak or submerge your board in water or cleaners.

- Dont ever put in the dishwasher

- Dont use any other oils other than food grade mineral oil to reseal.

(With the exception of coconut, walnut oils these are stable oils)

All other oils will turn rancid. YOU WILL GET SICK.

- Dont ever use for mutiple foods especially meats you can cross contaminate your foods. (you should own seperate boards for meats, fish, vegtables, breads and cheese).
